This exclusive material provides all of the qualities of the original Audtex-85 but in a softer consistency. Both Audtex and Apollo soften with body heat, provide excellent sealing capabilities, unequaled comfort and at the same time are easily modifiable in the office setting. Softex

Our Original Soft Material For Improved Comfort and Seal

This material provides a semi-flexible mold for hypersensitive ears requiring difficult acoustic seals. The mold comes in either an opaque flesh, opaque brown or fully transparent appearance. The earmold becomes malleable at body temperatures and conforms to natural ear contours. Different degrees of softness may be requested.

Lucite

A Rigid, Durable Acrylic Available In All Styles.

Lucite, Dupont's name for methyl methacrylate, is the oldest and most commonly requested material and the most durable of the available materials. This rigid acrylic is easily modified and highly resistant to body chemistry changes. Although not rated as high as softer materials in regard to acoustic sealing capabilities, the advantages of modifiability and stability are excellent.

Polyethelene

A Hard Mold Often Used In Allergy Related Fittings.

For individuals who are allergic to other materials, polyethelene may be the answer. This rigid, very smooth material is available in an opaque white color.

This design is an excellent choice where a firm body is needed for ease of insertion but an above average seal is required - more than available with full Lucite. Orders requesting Flex Canal will be filled with Lucite / Softex combination. If a Silicone canal is your choice please specify Lucite with Silicone.

Soft-Canal Molds

For Comfort Where Acoustical Seal is Difficult - Or Where Ears Are Hypersensitive.

Mid States Laboratories provides most earmold styles with a Lucite body and the canal portion molded in a durable, flexible material. The tip is generally manufactured in Softex (Lucite with Flex Canal) although Silicone (Lucite with Silicone canal) is also available. Since the Softex material becomes malleable at body temperatures and conforms to natural ear contours, this Flex Canal style is effective in cases where discomfort results due to hypersensitive ears.
